Christmas Gift Ideas For Kids That Have Everything

I’m sharing some of my top of mind ideas that you can dig deeper into for the kids in your life. Once my kids became a little older we started doing more experiential and personalized gifting. They love it more and as I mention, I’m all about the family time. I am excited to share some things to spark ideas on around Christmas giving.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the best gifts for a kid who has everything:

  • Choose a gift that is unique and unexpected. A kid who has everything has probably already seen and done it all, so think outside the box. You’ll want to try to choose a gift that is truly unique and unexpected. This could be a gift that is personalized to the child’s interests, or a gift that is simply one-of-a-kind.
  • Choose a gift that is educational and enriching. Even kids who have everything can benefit from educational and enriching gifts. Look for gifts that will help the child learn new skills, explore their interests, or expand their horizons.
  • Choose a gift that is experiential. Experiences can be just as memorable as material gifts, and they can often be more meaningful. Consider giving a gift certificate to a local attraction, tickets to a sporting event or concert, or a class that they’ve wanted to take.

With these tips in mind, you’re sure to find the perfect gift for the kid who has everything. I’m going to share with you some of my top picks and different ways for you to make your kiddos feel special. Let’s dive in friends!

Personalized Gifts

When there are kids that have everything they want, you can actually start to think outside the box. Honestly, I still try thinking outside the box no matter what. It’s about the memories and getting creative. Additionally, you can get more personalized with your gifts. It will make it that much more special for your kids.

Here are a few good ideas for personalized gifts:

  • Personalized book: Choose a book that your child will love, and have it personalized with their name on the cover and throughout the book. You can also choose a book that is specific to the child’s interests, such as a book about their favorite animal or hobby. This is an incredibly unique gift and something that your kid can take with them. My mother-in-law actually bought a book for my daughter and recorded her voice in it reading it to her. She still has it to this day and she’s 12 years old and loves it!
  • Personalized piece of jewelry: A personalized piece of jewelry, such as a necklace or bracelet with the child’s name, initials, or birthstone, is a gift that they will cherish for years to come.
  • Personalized stuffed animal: A personalized stuffed animal is a gift that any child will love. Choose a stuffed animal that the child will adore, and have it personalized with their name. My son wanted a necklace with his first letter on it and he loved it! Now my daughter wants the same thing.
  • Personalized backpack or lunchbox: A personalized backpack or lunchbox is a practical gift that the child will use every day. Choose a backpack or lunchbox that is in the child’s favorite color or design, and have it personalized with their name. These are great non-toy gifts that kids will use over and over again and will reminded how much you care
  • Personalized piece of art: A personalized piece of art for the child’s room is a unique and thoughtful gift. You can commission a custom piece of art. Or you can choose a pre-made piece of art and have it personalized with the child’s name or initials.

These are just a few ideas around personalization for this special occasion. All of these can be great birthday gifts too!

Educational Gifts

Educational gifts can be a great way for kids to learn new things and expand their horizons. When choosing an educational gift, look for something that is both fun and engaging. You could also choose a gift that is related to the child’s school curriculum or interests.

Here are a few ideas for educational gifts:

  • Subscription to a science magazine or educational streaming service: A monthly subscription is a great idea! From a science magazine to an educational streaming service is a great way for kids to learn about the world. It’s a fun and engaging way to create family time too! And it doesn’t feel like learning.
  • Science kit or building set: A science kit or building set is a great way for kids to learn about science and engineering through hands-on activities.
  • Book about a topic that the child is interested in: A book about a topic that the child is interested in is a great way to encourage them to learn more about the subject.
  • Language learning kit or app: A language learning kit or app is a great way for kids to learn a new language.
  • Subscription to a coding or programming class: A subscription to a coding or programming class is a great way for kids to learn the skills they love!
  • Subscription to an art or craft box: I think of all the creative kids and what would be fun for them. I would have loved a monthly box that had coloring, puzzles and things in it when I was younger. And this is great for little kids or tweens and teens.

Experiential Gifts

Experiential gifts can be just as memorable as material gifts, and they can often be more meaningful. Honestly, these are my favorite gifts to give, especially for older kids. Consider giving the child a gift certificate. You can do it to a local attraction, tickets to a sporting event or concert, or a class that they’ve been wanting to take.  These experiences can be so much fun and they leave so many lasting memories… which I think is where the real magic lives.

Here are a few ideas for experiential gifts:

  • Tickets to a museum, zoo, or aquarium: A trip to a museum, zoo, or aquarium is a great way for kids to learn about the world around them and have fun at the same time.  Additionally, this could be something you do with the whole family too.
  • Tickets to a sporting event or concert: Tickets to a sporting event or concert are a great way for kids to experience live entertainment. And who doesn’t love cheering on their favorite team or artist?  Last year, my mother in law got us tickets to a dinner theater event and I’m excited to take the kids this upcoming year!
  • Gift certificate or gift cards to a local arcade, amusement park, or trampoline park: A gift certificate to a local arcade, amusement park, or trampoline park is a great way for kids to have a fun. Additionally, it’s a bonus day where you’re being active and outside the house too!
  • Class in a skill that the child is interested in: A class around what your kids are interested in is fun too! Things like cooking, coding, or playing a musical instrument, is a great way for them to learn new skills. All while having fun at the same time. I gifted my daughter a baking class. And everyday for five days, they baked something new. She was able to meet new friends from all over the world have fun. It felt like a win win.
  • Membership to a local children’s museum or zoo: A membership to a local children’s museum or zoo is a great idea for kids too.

For me, these types of gifts also create more family time and I’m at the stage of parenting where I know I’m going to miss these moments with the kids. And I want to be more present with them now, more than ever.
